For me, it’s The Sound of Music. It’s been 60 years since this iconic film won five Oscars, broke box office records in 29 countries, and introduced the world to the beauty of Salzburg. Even today, the song Edelweiss is known as Austria’s “unofficial national anthem.” I was so honored to join media from around the world for the 60th-anniversary celebration! Every year, around 300,000 fans visit the movie’s filming spots — singing along on the “Sound of Music” panorama bus or exploring by train to the charming town of Golling, just 20 minutes away. The von Trapp family’s real story began right here in Salzburg before they fled to the U.S. in 1938. At the event, their third-generation granddaughter Elisabeth performed and shared beautiful memories of her grandparents — a true bridge between history and music. The highlight of the celebration was the grand gala at Salzburg Theater. The red carpet was packed with stars, past cast members, and even this year’s Eurovision winner JJ performing live.
